- what king … will not sit down first and take counsel - This starts off another rhetorical question. It can be translated as as statement: "You know that a king … would sit down first and take counsel." (See: en:ta:vol1:translate:figs_rquestion)
- take counsel - Possible meanings are 1) "think carefully about" or 2) "listen to his advisors"
- And if not - "and if he realizes that he will not be able to to defeat the other king" or "If he decided his army could not defeat the other army" (ULB)
- ambassador - "messenger" or "representative"
- anyone of you who does not give up all that he has cannot be my disciple - This can be expressed positively: "Only those of you who give up all that you have can be my disciples."
- give up all that he has - "leave behind all that he has"
