Matthew quotes the prophet Isaiah to show that Jesus’s ministry fulfilled scripture. Isaiah wrote what God said, so all the occurrences of “I” and “my” refer to God.

Here “soul” refers to the whole person. Alternate translation: “he is my beloved one, and I am very pleased with him”

The means that God’s servant will tell the Gentiles that there will be justice. Alternate translation: “he will announce to the nations that God will do for them what is right”
