# you who can snatch me from the gates of death
Death is spoken of as if it were a city that had gates through which people enter it. If someone is near the gates of death, it means that he will die soon. Keeping someone from dying is spoken of as taking him away from the gates of that city. Alternate translation: "you who can rescue me from death" or "you who can keep me from dying" (See: [[rc://en/ta/man/jit/figs-metaphor]])
