This word connects two groups of words together and describes how they relate to one another. It is a preposition.

  • This word means through.
    • It is used to talk about one physical object moving through an area or another object.

    • It is used to talk about a physical object moving along another object.

    • It is used to talk about events happening during a certain length of time.

      • Sometimes it is used to talk about an event happening during a short time of the longer time period.
      • Sometimes it is used to talk about an event happening for the whole longer time period.
    • When one person causes a second person to do some action, we say that the first person did the action through the second person.

    • When one person uses an object to do some action, we say that the person did that action through the object.

    • When a later event is possible only because an earlier event has happened, we say that the later event happened through the earlier event.

    • When an event is possible only because an earlier situation existed, we say that the event happened through the situation.
