praise

give thanks, praiseworthy, thankful

Definition:

To praise someone is to express admiration and honor for that person.

  • People praise God because of how great he is and because of all the amazing things he has done as the Creator and Savior of the world.
  • Praise for God often includes being thankful for what he has done.
  • Music and singing is often used as a way to praise God.
  • Praising God is part of what it means to worship him.
  • The term to "praise" could also be translated as to "speak well of" or to "highly honor with words" or to "say good things about."
  • The noun "praise" could be translated as "spoken honor" or "speech that honors" or "speaking good things about."
