General Information
This chapter is the final defeat of Judah and the beginning of their exile to Babylon. Zedekiah revolted against the Babylonians; so they came and completely destroyed Jerusalem, tearing down the city walls. They took the rest of the people to Babylon as slaves, except for the very poorest people.

This is the tenth month of the Hebrew calendar. The tenth day is near the end of December on Western calendars. This is during the cold season when there may be rain and snow.
