General Information:
God gives Jeremiah a message that Babylon will be conquered and the Jews will return to their homeland. At this time, Babylon controlled almost the entire Near East. The fulfillment of this prophecy would have been unthinkable. The ULB sets poetry (50:1-5, 6-46) farther to the right to show that it is poetry.
This is the word that Yahweh declared
"This is the message that Yahweh spoke"
by the hand of Jeremiah the prophet
"through Jeremiah, who was a prophet". See Jeremiah 37:2.
