Paul uses these rhetorical questions to clear up any confusion the Corinthians might have about what he meant. Alternate translation: "I am not saying that an idol is anything or that food sacrificed to an idol is anything." or "I am not saying that an idol is a real god or that food that has been sacrificed to idols has any power."
