Wedding

A wedding is an event where a man and woman are married. In New Testament times, people usually had a large meal together to celebrate a marriage. This meal was called the “wedding feast.” The feast could be for several days.

The words “wedding” and “wedding feast” are used in the Bible as metaphors. They are used to talk about Gods people living in happiness with God (see: Isaiah 25:6, 8; Hosea 2:16-19; Matthew 22:1-14). Paul used the word “marriage” as a metaphor to talk about Christians living with Jesus forever (see: 2 Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 5:25-32). John wrote about the wedding feast of the Lamb (see: Revelation 19:7-9; 21:2, 9). This was a way of talking about Christians celebrating and living with Jesus forever. This will happen after Jesus defeats Satan (see: Revelation 21:1-4; 22:1-5).
