# Reward
The word “reward” is used to talk about how a person is given something because of something the person has done. To “reward” someone is to give the person something they deserve.

A reward can be a good thing. This happens when a reward is given to someone because the person did something well. A good reward can also be given to someone because the person obeyed God (see: Isaiah 40:10; Jeremiah 17:10; Matthew 5:12; 6:4; 10:41-42; 1 Corinthians 3:10-15; Revelation 22:12).

Sometimes a reward can be a negative thing. This happens when a punishment is given to someone because the person did something wrong. That is, someone is punished because they sinned (see: Job 15:31).
