Soul
The soul is part of a person no one can see. In the Bible, people write about the soul as if it is inside of a person. The soul is the part of a person that continues living after the body dies (Psalm 16:10; Matthew 10:28; Revelation 6:9). When a person dies, his soul leaves his body. The word "soul" is also sometimes used to refer to the whole person. For example, "the soul who sins" is "the person who sins" (see: Ezekiel 18:4). The human “spirit” is similar to the “soul.” However, the spirit and the soul are different in the Bible (1 Thessalonians 5:23; Hebrews 4:12).
