# Steward
The word “steward” or “manager” is used to talk about someone who works for a master. The master entrusts the steward with taking care of things for him. In Bible times, a steward had many responsibilities, including leading the master’s other servants (see: Genesis 43:16-17; Daniel 1:11).

Paul said that he was a steward of God (see: 1 Corinthians 4:1-2; 9:17; Ephesians 3:2; Colossians 1:25). That is, God gave Paul the responsibility of being an apostle and teaching people about the gospel. Christians should use their gifts and abilities to be good stewards (see: 1 Peter 4:10). That is, Christians should use what God has given them to help other people and to glorify God.
