# When Yahweh raised up judges
|

Yahweh appointing persons to be judges is spoken of as if he raised or lifted up the persons. (See: [[rc://en/ta/man/translate/figs-metaphor]])

|

The word "them" refers to the Israelites.

# the hand of their enemies
