# I will reverse the captivity of Egypt
The abstract noun "captivity" can be translated as a verbal clause. The word "Egypt" here is a metonym for the people of Egypt. Translate "will reverse the captivity" as in [Ezekiel 16:53](../16/53.md). Alternate translation: "free the Egyptians from their captivity" or "free the people of Egyptians from those who had captured them" (See: [[rc://en/ta/man/jit/figs-abstractnouns]] and [[rc://en/ta/man/jit/figs-metonymy]])
