# in his name the Gentiles will have hope
Here the word "hope" refers to a confident expectation that what one wants to happen really will happen. The abstract noun "hope" can be translated here with the verbs "hope" or "expect" or "trust." It is implied that the Gentiles will hope that God's servant will save them. Alternate translation: "the Gentiles will hope in his hame" or "the Gentiles will trust in him to save them" (See: [[rc://en/ta/man/translate/figs-abstractnouns]] and [[rc://en/ta/man/translate/figs-explicit]])
# in his name
The word "his" refers to God's servant who was spoken of in [Matthew 12:18](../12/18.md). Here "name" refers to the whole person. Alternate translation: "in him" (See: [[rc://en/ta/man/translate/figs-synecdoche]])
