* **Others tested him** - "Other people tested Jesus." They wanted him to prove that his authority was from God.
* **and sought from him a sign from heaven** - "and asked him to give a sign from heaven" or "by demanding that he give a sign from heaven." This was how they they wanted him to prove that his authority was from God.
* **Every kingdom divided against itself** - This could be translated as "When the people in a kingdom fight among themselves."
* **is made desolate** - "it will be destroyed"
* **a house divided against itself falls** - "a family whose members fight each other will be ruined" or "a family whose members fight each other will be stop being a family."
