## They prayed ##

"Then the believers prayed"

## You, Lord, know the hearts of all men ##

"Lord, You know the inner motivations and thoughts of everyone."

## so reveal which of these two is the one whom you have chosen to take the place in this ministry and apostleship ##

"Therefore, God, show us which of these men you have selected to fill this empty position among the apostles."

## from which Judas transgressed to go to his own place ##

The role was left empty because Judas betrayed Jesus, left, and died.

## They cast lots for them ##

They used the lot to decide between Joseph and Matthias.

## the lot fell to Matthias ##

The lot indicated that Matthias should be chosen.

## he was numbered with the eleven apostles ##

"the disciples considered him to be one of the apostles"
