Nehemiah is referring to himself in the third person to express his humility before the king.  AT: "If it pleases you, and if I have earned your favor" (See: [[rc://en/ta/man/translate/figs-123person]])

## the city of my fathers' tombs ##

AT: "the city of my ancestors."
