# Paran # ## Facts: ## Paran was a desert or wilderness area east of Egypt and south of the land of Canaan. There was also a Mount Paran, which may have been another name for Mount Sinai. * The slave Hagar and her son Ishmael went to live in the wilderness of Paran after Sarah ordered Abraham to send them away. * When Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt, they passed through the wilderness of Paran. * It was from Kadesh-Barnea in the wilderness of Paran that Moses sent twelve men to spy out the land of Canaan and bring back a report. * The wilderness of Zin was north of Paran and the wilderness of Sin was south of Paran.
