Susan's 6/16/23 email to Aby

What would you think of us rewording book outlines for ease of translation if they seem difficult or inconsistent?

This is the outline for Ruth.

  1. How Ruth came to Bethlehem with Naomi (1:1–22)
  2. Boaz helps Ruth as she gleans (2:1–23)
  3. Boaz and Ruth at the threshing floor (3:1–18)
  4. How Ruth became the wife of Boaz (4:1–16)
  5. Obed born to Ruth and Boaz; the genealogy of David (4:13–22)

It has a mix of present tense and past tense, and "Obed born to Ruth and Boaz" may seem strange to people who don't jot down notes in English.

Should we make them easier to translate or just ignore them for now?

  1. Ruth came to Bethlehem with Naomi (1:1–22)
  2. Boaz helped Ruth as she gleaned (2:1–23)
  3. Boaz and Ruth spoke at the threshing floor (3:1–18)
  4. Ruth became the wife of Boaz (4:1–16)
  5. Obed was born to Ruth and Boaz (4:13–17)
  6. The genealogy of David (4:18–22)

Aby's 6/20/23 email

That’s fine with me for the long term but not a priority over shortening the notes.

For now I'll just keep on with the regular shortening and look at this again later. Perhaps I'll just list books below that have outlines I'd like to consider rewording.
