# Deuteronomy 24 General Notes #### Structure and formatting This chapter continues the teaching about how to maintain justice in Israel. (See: [[rc://en/tw/dict/bible/kt/justice]]) #### Special concepts in this chapter ##### "No man may take a mill or an upper millstone as a pledge" A millstone was the way a person made a living. To take a person's millstone was to take take away the way they earned money and produced food. (See: [[rc://en/ta/man/jit/figs-explicit]]) ##### Lending money Lending money to fellow Israelites was a way to help them out. It was not intended to be a way to make money off their brothers.
