Translators may add a footnote that says "The name Esau sounds like the word 'hairy.'"

## grasping Esau's heel ##

"holding the back part of Esau's foot"

## Jacob ##

Translators may also add a footnote that says “The name Jacob means 'he grasps the heel.' This is a way of saying 'he deceives.'”
