# the Son of David

Jesus was not David's literal son, so this may be translated as "descendant of king David." However, "Son of David" is also a title for the Messiah, and the children were probably calling Jesus by this title. See how you translated this in [Matthew 21:09](./09.md).

# they became very angry

# Do you hear what they are saying?

The chief priests and scribes ask this question to rebuke Jesus because they are angry with him. AT: "You should not allow them to say these things about you!" (See: [[rc://en/ta/man/translate/figs-rquestion]])

# Out of the mouths of little children and nursing infants you have prepared praise

"Jesus left the chief priests and scribes"
