Comment from GL translator:
There is a lack of agreement in number where the prophets of Baal are said to have taken one bull, cut them up, and placed them on the altar. This narrative is possibly confusing to the reader: did the prophets cut up one bull or did they also cut up the bull for Elijah? The Bible text tells us Elijah did his own work for the sacrifice. Changing them to it will clear this up.
Here is the text:
The prophets of Baal took one bull, killed them, cut them up, and placed them on wood on an altar without lighting the fire.
I've changed it to
The prophets of Baal took one bull, killed it, cut it up, and placed it on wood on an altar without lighting the fire. The prophets of Baal danced and prayed to Baal all morning and half the afternoon. After they were exhausted, Elijah built his altar, put the bull he had prepared on it, and drenched it with water.
The text doesn't say when Elijah prepared the bull, though my mind's eye has him chiding Baal's prophets while he's cutting up his bull.
This change to the Ch 18 intro looks good to me.
