# Sinai
2020-03-25 19:36:14 +00:00
Mount Sinai was a mountain. Some scholars think Mount Sinai was located in the southern part of what is now called the Sinai Peninsula. Some scholars think Mount Sinai was located in Saudi Arabia. Mount Sinai was also known as “Mount Horeb.” Mount Sinai was part of a large, rocky desert. The Israelites came to Mount Sinai as they traveled from Egypt to the Promised Land (see: Exodus 19:1-2). God gave Moses the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai (see: Exodus 19-20).

God talked to Moses out of a burning bush at Mount Sinai. This happened before God sent Moses to Egypt to free the Israelites (see: Exodus 3; Acts 7:30, 38). Elijah went to Mount Sinai when he was running from those who wanted to kill him (see: 1 Kings 19:8).
