When someone exalts something they lift it up. The word “exalt” is often used to talk about praising and honoring someone or something (see: Matthew 11:23; James 4:10). In the Bible, the word “exalt” is often used to talk about people praising and honoring God.

A person who exalts himself is someone who thinks about himself in an arrogant and prideful way (see: Matthew 23:12)

Jesus was exalted after his death and resurrection (see: Acts 2:33; 5:31; Philippians 2:6-11). That is, people humiliated Jesus on earth but God the Father glorified and honored Jesus in heaven.
