# Preach (Preacher)
When someone “preaches,” they are giving a speech about God while other people gather to listen. Usually, one person preaches to a large group. The one who preaches is called a “preacher.” A preacher wants people to change the things they do or change the things they think.

John the Baptist preached that the Messiah was coming soon. He preached that people needed to repent and be baptized to get ready for the Messiah to come (see: Matthew 3:1-2). Jesus also preached about the kingdom of God. He preached that people needed to repent (see: Matthew 4:17). After Jesus returned to heaven, Christians preached the gospel. That is, they preached that God saves anyone who trusts in Jesus (see: Acts 8:25; Romans 1:9; 1 Corinthians 9:16.)
